We Polked You in '44, We Shall Pierce You in '52

"Oranges," February 1, 2007. Nikon N50, and that's all the info I know, because it was taken with a film camera. Penang, Malaysia.

This is a photo from the Thaipusam festival in Malaysia. It's a Hindu festival where people have a Kavadi, which is a physical burden through which the devotees implore for help from the God Murugan. According to Wikipedia, anyhow. Who knows how right that is? Anyhow, people carry jugs on their heads or pierce their skin with hooks and skewers and walk through town up to the temple. It was so fascinating to see. Didn't make me want to become a Hindu, though. Roaming cows in India and kumkum dots, now that makes me want to be a Hindu.
